Prayer for the Biblical New Year

The biblical new year is almost upon us! I was just having a little prayer time looking forward to the new year, and I thought I’d share some of what I wrote in my journal. I hope this gives you encouraging food for thought.

“Heavenly Father,

I thank You for the new year which is almost upon us. Thank You for the rich and joy-filled adventures of this past year. I pray that You will lead me in paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake (Ps 23:3). I pray that You will lead me in ever-growing contentment, trust, and patience before You. May these traits and attitudes manifest themselves in my life in new and excellent ways this year. May I daily plod faithfully along in my walk with You. When I feel spiritually dry, insignificant, and unproductive, may I continue to press on to know You, to glorify You, and to build up Your kingdom.

“Help me to discern and meet the need of the moment.

“Help me to find joy in life while having a proper sobriety over sin and the state of this world. Let my joy stem from uncompromising devotion to You and a robust understanding of Your love and grace toward me. In each struggle, help me to see reasons to give You thanks, honor, and praise. Help me not to be discouraged or blindly led by my feelings, which can be unpredictable. Help me to enjoy happiness when it comes. When I fall, help me to get up without hesitation, knowing the blood of Yeshua washes me and makes me white as snow.

“May I take joy in growing. May I be clear about what matters most and prioritize accordingly.

“I thank You for Your righteousness, justice, and mercy. You are a good God, showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love You and keep Your commandments (Ex 20:6).

“In Yeshua’s name I pray,

“Amen”
