I was very blessed by this recent interview between Gavin Ortlund and his dad, Ray Ortlund, both of whom I consider to be devoted, faithful Christian men. Pursuing enjoyment in life is a part of stewarding the precious years God has granted us on this earth. Yahweh did not imbue His creation with good things only for us to live in a state of downcast austerity. To reject something God has offered is not piety, but poor stewardship. Yeshua came that we might have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10). Brother or sister, I pray you will be encouraged to launch full-bore into things that delight your soul, not without regard for Godly boundaries, but in gleeful reception of the joys and opportunities that have been extended to you.
“I believe God made me for a purpose, but He also made me fast. And when I run, I feel His pleasure.” — Quote from Olympic runner Eric Liddell in the film Chariots of Fire, based on a true story.
