Happy Yom Teruah (Day of Trumpets/Shouting)!
I wanted to share a poem reminding us to be ready for the Master’s return. For a more in-depth discussion of Yom Teruah, I invite you to check out a previous post, Wake Up Call.
Ready
A trumpet, a shout!
Let song be poured out
A time to prepare
In action, in prayer
Overflow steady
Countenance ready
Eagerly awaiting
Burning, anticipating
Lamp not empty
Replenished continually
Mind renewed
Thoughts pure
Oil fresh
Pressing endured
Soil tilled
Sheep tended
Soul stilled
Friendships mended
Hand to the plow
Garments clean
Food for the orphan
Left to glean
Make way for His rule
Everlasting dominion
Built on ancient foundations
Repairing the ruins
The Master is coming
Magnificence stunning
To meet His embrace
The bride is running
Household guarded
Watchfully pursuing
What He has instructed
May He find us so doing
~
Matthew 24:42-47 —
“Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. 43 But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. 44 For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.
45 “Who then is the faithful and sensible slave whom his master put in charge of his household to give them their food at the proper time? 46 Blessed is that slave whom his master finds so doing when he comes.”
So much said in so few words. Very powerful, Jonathan!
